Yule, Christmas, and the Turning of the Year

This time of year carries a particular quality. The days are short, the pace naturally slows, and many people feel drawn inward even if life around them is asking for the opposite. Long before Christmas became what it is today, this period was recognised as a turning point in the natural cycle: the Winter Solstice, often known as Yule.

Yule marks the longest night of the year, followed by the gradual return of the light. It isn’t about instant change, but about a subtle shift, a reminder that movement continues even when things appear still.
This understanding sits quietly underneath much of the work I do at London Healing.
The Older Roots Beneath Christmas
Before the emergence of organised religion, communities across Europe marked the Solstice as a moment of survival, reflection, and renewal. Fires were lit to honour the returning sun. Evergreen plants were brought indoors to represent continuity of life. People gathered not to rush forward, but to pause and take stock.
Many familiar Christmas symbols come directly from these traditions. Candles, lights, wreaths, trees, all were originally used as reminders of resilience and balance, not decoration.
When Christmas later absorbed these festivals, the themes remained largely the same: birth, light, hope, and renewal. A different tradition but the same underlying rhythm.
Why This Season Feels Different
December often brings heightened emotion. Some people feel reflective or tired. Others feel unsettled, overstimulated, or disconnected. This isn’t personal failing but a natural response to the energetic contraction of winter.
The body and nervous system are designed to slow down at this time of year. Modern life doesn’t always allow that which is why many people feel out of step with themselves in December.
This is one reason people seek energy healing in London during the winter months, not because something is “wrong”, but because they want to restore balance and ground themselves as the year turns.
Working With the Cycle, Not Against It
At London Healing, this season is understood as a powerful time for:
Clearing what no longer needs to be carried into the new year.
Settling the nervous system.
Reconnecting with clarity and direction.
Creating space before moving forward.
Energy healing works best when it supports natural cycles rather than overriding them. Winter isn’t about pushing ahead, it’s about preparation, integration, and quiet recalibration.
Sessions during this time often help my clients feel steadier, clearer, and more present as they move into the New Year.
A Different Kind of Invitation
Yule and Christmas remind us that change doesn’t always arrive with effort or intensity. Often, it begins with awareness and support.
If this season has highlighted a need to pause, reset, or realign, that’s something you don’t have to navigate alone. Support is available in a grounded, practical way through energy healing.
You’re welcome to explore sessions at London Healing, or simply take this time to honour where you are as the year turns.
